Bayern make it seven straight Bundesliga wins

FC Bayern beat Werder Bremen 3-0 on Friday night to win their seventh league match in a row. Vincent Kompany's men were dominant throughout but had to wait for 55 minutes until Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot. Leroy Sané made it two with 10 minutes to go, before Kane converted another penalty in added time to bag a brace.

Bayern lined up with Manuel Neuer in goal and Sacha Boey, Dayot Upamecano, Minjae Kim and Raphaël Guerreiro in a back four. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović anchored a midfield featuring Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala and Kingsley Coman, with Kane up front. Konrad Laimer, Leon Goretzka, Sané and Josip Stanišić took over from Boey, Pavlović, Coman and Guerreiro in the second half.

No goals

The pattern of the match was soon established with Munich enjoying most of the ball and Bremen sitting deep. Werder keeper Michael Zetterer saved from Boey, while Coman fired an effort over before Kane saw a shot saved, but from an offside position in any case. Zetterer denied Musiala before Coman again missed the target as Bayern lacked creative spark in the final third.

Olise had a shot deflected behind and Kane miscued another header as half chances came and went. Zetterer had no trouble making a save from Pavlović and another Kane header went just wide, as the contest remained goalless after 45 minutes.

Kane leads the way

Bayern almost took the lead immediately after the interval, but Kane's thumping shot from 20 yards crashed off the bar. The league leaders were soon awarded a penalty for handball by Anthony Jung, with Kane converting to hand them a deserved lead.

Kane fired wide from a promising position, with Zetterer making comfortable saves against Musiala, Olise and Kimmich before beating Coman to a threatening pass. Bayern put the game to bed when substitutes combined as Laimer invited Sané to tap home with his first touch. Zetterer made more fine saves against Laimer and Kane, but Musiala was upended in the box in added, with Kane dispatching the ensuing penalty to round off the final scoreline.

The victory takes Bayern onto 54 points from 21 matches, nine clear of Bayer Leverkusen, who take on Wolfsburg on Saturday. The Bavarians will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to face Celtic in the Champions League before next Saturday's heavyweight clash away to Leverkusen.
