Bayern beat Jeju SK 2-1 in Audi Football Summit

FC Bayern beat South Korean side Jeju SK 2-1 in the first friendly on the Audi Summer Tour. Felipe Chávez and Jeju’s Lee Changmin traded goals in the first quarter-hour, with Bastian Assomo restoring Bayern’s lead shortly before half-time in temperatures of over 30 degrees. Munich created a number of gilt-edged chances in the closing stages, but another goal refused to come.

First-half dominance

Munich got off to the better start and Bischof aimed too far before Jeju failed to clear the ball, with Chávez firing home. The hosts replied almost immediately when Matheus Aias shone with a fine assist and captain Changmin found the net.

Hiroki Ito miscued and soon almost put through his own goal when he tried to head back to Jonas Urbig, who was rushing out and the ball went just wide. Bayern upped the ante and chances came and went for Assomo, Tom Bischof and Chávez, but Assomo restored the lead with a powerful drive.

No way through

The pace dropped after the restart, Urbig making a fine save against Choi before Guido Della Rovere saw an effort saved at the other end. Vincent Kompany shuffled his deck on the hour, subbing on seven players. Assomo and Arijon Ibrahimović miscued before Aleksandar Pavlović saw an effort blocked.

Munich went looking for a third to put the game to bed, but Josip Stanišić saw a header saved, Maycon Cardozo blasted inches wide and both Ibrahimović and Luis Díaz saw their efforts blocked. Bayern went on to claim a narrow but deserved victory.

The Bavarians will be back in action on Friday when they take on Europa League winners Aston Villa in Hong Kong. The match will be broadcast live on FC Bayern TV Plus.
