FC Bayern were held to a 3-3 draw by Viking FK on Tuesday night. Gianni Stensness and Peter Christiansen handed the home side a two-goal lead before half-time. Harry Kane bagged a brace after the restart and Luis Díaz put Munich in front, but Michael Olise was soon sent off and Herman Haugen scored a last-minute equaliser.
Munich started with Jonas Urbig in goal and Konrad Laimer, Jonathan Tah, Minjae Kim and Nathaniel Brown in a back four. Joshua Kimmich and Tom Bischof anchored a midfield featuring Olise, Lennart Karl and Díaz, with Kane up front. Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies and Ismael Saibari took over from Tah, Brown and Karl at half-time, with Hiroki Ito and Josip Stanišić coming on for Saibari and Díaz in the closing stages.
Two down at half-time
Bayern conceded an early goal when centre-back Stensness rose high to head home from a corner. Munich were utterly dominant and Laimer saw a shot deflected just wide, Karl aimed too high and Olise saw a free kick saved.
Vincent Kompany’s men saw a number of shots blocked, with Viking keeper Arild Østbø also denying Díaz and Kane, but Bayern were hit on the break when Christiansen raced clear and fired past Urbig to make it 2-0.
Kane’s brace not enough
Bayern kept probing after the restart and Laimer was soon upended in the box, with Kane dispatching the ensuing penalty to pull one back. The goal opened the floodgates and Østbø denied Kane and Bischof, but he was unable to prevent the leveller when Kimmich’s cross invited Kane to head home.
Munich added a third almost immediately, but Díaz’ goal was chalked off for offside. Bayern did complete the turnaround when Kane’s fine pass found Laimer, who squared for Díaz to slot home. Olise was sent off for a second bookable offence shortly after and the home side were boosted by their numerical advantage. Urbig denied Henrik Falchener in the frantic closing stages, but substitute Haugen headed in from a cross to salvage a point for Viking.
The Bavarians will be back in action on Saturday when they entertain RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
