31 May 2005: Bayern’s first game at the Allianz Arena to open the new stadium was against Germany, winning 4-2. The stage was set before kick-off with a red and white tifo around the stadium.

21 February 2006: The message from the fans ahead of the 2005/06 Champions League round of 16 second leg against AC Milan was clear as they demanded the team “step it up a gear” in impressive fashion. The image was that of a gear stick over the Südkurve showing Bayern’s way to a potential final in Paris. Reverse gear was displayed in blue with the number 60 – reference to 1860 going backwards.

11 April 2007: Bayern fans were again looking ahead to the Champions League final the following year as they hosted AC Milan once more, this time in the quarter-final second leg. As the teams walked out, a spyglass appeared pointing towards the Südkurve, where they showed a temple – a nod to the final in Athens. It wasn’t enough to push the team over the line, though, as they lost 2-0 to bow out 4-2 on aggregate.

28 February 2010: Fans marked the club’s 110th anniversary from a few days earlier ahead of this Bundesliga game at home to Hamburg. The 1-0 win was the perfect birthday gift, presented by Franck Ribery and his solo goal.

21 April 2010: Bayern were in the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since winning the trophy in 2001 and were clearly eager to reach another final, as fans showed with an imposing tifo. It worked and Bayern won 1-0 against Lyon in the first leg en route to a 4-0 aggregate victory.

19 May 2012: For the first time ever, a team was playing the Champions League final on their own ground, and Bayern fans made clear ahead of kick-off whose home this was. Bayern were vastly superior against Chelsea but came up short on penalties.

23 April 2013: The final hurdle on the road to Wembley came in the shape of Real Madrid. Just a year on from the ‘Finale dahoam’, everyone was aware of the significance of this Champions League semi-final first leg. And the fans made sure to do their bit with a red and white sea engulfing the Allianz Arena.

9 April 2014: The Champions League holders hosted Manchester United and greeted the Red Devils with an impressive tifo that said “Kings of the Cup” across the Südkurve. The fans’ confidence rubbed off on the team as they won 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals.

29 April 2014: Without doubt one of the most remarkable tifos Bayern fans have ever produced came in the Champions League semi-final second leg with the team trailing 1-0 from the first game against Real Madrid. The players gave their all on the pitch but came up short in the end.

27 February 2015: It was 115 years to the day that Bayern had been created, with fans marking the anniversary in creative fashion ahead of the 4-1 win at home to Köln. “The seed we sowed has sprouted gloriously” is what it said on the banner, with a tree stretching over the Südkurve and its branches showing important people and milestones in the club’s history.

21 April 2015: Fans showed that they wanted to see in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Porto, calling for the team to “Never give up!” after the 3-1 first-leg loss. The team did just that and won 6-1 to advance.

28 April 2015: Bayern fans let their creativity shine through with this tifo in the DFB Cup semi-final against Borussia Dortmund. “The Real Badman & Robben” was of course a reference to superhero Batman and his sidekick Robin, with fans comparing the pair to Bayern heroes Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

12 May 2015: Despite facing a 3-0 first-leg deficit in Barcelona, the whole of Munich still believed they could reach the final with a second-leg comeback. This tifo encompassed the entire stadium. Unfortunately a 3-2 win wasn’t enough.

20 May 2017: Philipp Lahm and Xabi Alonso were given a worthy reception ahead of their final appearances before retiring. The pair and their teammates were greeted by a sea of red and white around the Allianz Arena. Their departure from the big stage also went to plan with a 4-1 win over Freiburg.

9 November 2019: Marking 50 years since the club’s first domestic double, Bayern fans honoured the team that included Sepp Maier, Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller in a tifo that included team photos and celebrations ahead of the Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund.

8 March 2020: The club’s 120th anniversary produced another special fan display ahead of facing Augsburg with a design that went all the way around the Allianz Arena, showing three different club badges from down the years and a giant “120 years” for a worthy way to mark such a great milestone.

12 April 2022: The tifo ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Villarreal was all in honour of a true legend in the late Gerd Müller. His face went over all three tiers of the Südkurve in an impressive display to remember the club’s greatest ever goalscorer.

27 August 2022: Bayern’s most loyal supporters got to celebrate themselves this time as they marked 50 years of the Südkurve with a huge banner ahead of the Bundesliga game against Borussia Mönchengladbach. It included the club badge, the Olympiastadion and the crest of the city of Munich.

8 March 2023: Having won 1-0 in Paris in the round of 16 first leg, Bayern fans showed their visitors who was boss in the return leg with an impressive tifo pushing the team on to a 2-0 win and progress to the quarter-finals.

19 April 2023: Bayern fans showed their support in remarkable style with this design ahead of the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City. “Fighting till the end with confidence” was the call from the Südkurve. Bayern did indeed fight till the end but could only muster up a 1-1 draw that wasn’t enough to reach the final four.

29 November 2023: Bayern fans revealed a design in memory of the 2013 Champions League triumph ahead of the 100th European fixture at the Allianz Arena against Copenhagen. The heroes of the Wembley final with coach Jupp Heynckes, captain Philipp Lahm and match-winner Arjen Robben were pictured in three crests. It had the famous chant “Wir haben den Cup gewonnen, den Thron erklommen, der Arjen hat’s gemacht!“ (We won the cup, climbed the throne, Arjen did it) on the banner.

5 March 2024: Bayern fans also wanted to do their bit in ensuring progress in the Champions League round of 16 against Lazio. The evening’s motto was displayed ahead of kick-off in the Südkurve – “In the name of the city” were the big white letters on the black background, also displaying the city’s emblem of the Münchner Kindl across the entire stand.

30 April 2024: Fans once again provided an electric atmosphere on another huge Champions League night, this time against Real Madrid in the semi-final first leg. The teams walked out to a tifo honouring club legend Franz Beckenbauer, with the late Kaiser’s face displayed across all three tiers of the Südkurve and the words “As a conductor on the field, known all over the world”.

19 October 2024: Bayern fans produced a tifo to remember the club’s 1974 European Cup heroes ahead of Saturday’s Bundesliga game at home to VfB Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena. The design paid homage to the club’s first continental champions when a team including Franz Beckenbauer, Sepp Maier, Uli Hoeneß, Gerd Müller and more beat Atletico Madrid in Brussels 50 years ago.
