The third season of the KONAMI eFootball.Pro League begins on 12 December. As with last year, FC Bayern will be there at the start with their professional esports team. Along with nine other teams from across Europe, FCB will be battling it out until the end of July for the European eFootball crown.
The KONAMI eFootball.Pro League is the international league competition of the eFootball PES 2021 game, in which only esports teams from real professional football clubs compete against each other. As well as FC Bayern, the following sides make up the prestigious field: FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Juventus, Celtic, AS Monaco, FC Schalke 04, AS Roma plus two more teams yet to be confirmed.
How the KONAMI eFootball.Pro League works
The 10 participating teams play against each other in a best-of-two mode between December 2020 and April 2021. The game is played on the PlayStation 4, with each of the two matches lasting 10 minutes. The winner of a game earns three points, while both teams get a point if it ends in a draw. The points from both games are added together and reflected in the league positioning.
The top two teams from the regular season automatically qualify for the semi-finals of the knockout stage. The teams that finish third to sixth battle it out for the final two semi-final spots in two-legged quarter-finals. The final in July 2021 is decided by a single match, as is the third-place play-off. During the knockout rounds, games that end in draws will go to extra time and penalties if required.
