Michael Rechner has been goalkeeping coach on Julian Nagelsmann's staff at FC Bayern since February 2023. As "coordinator goalkeeping," the Mosbach native had previously been responsible for the entire goalkeeping setup at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim since 2008 and had overseen the first team goalkeepers from 2015. Rechner is a UEFA A licence holder.
The former goalkeeper played for the Germany U18s and later made seven second-division appearances for SV Waldhof Mannheim in the 2002/03 season, among other things. From 2004 onwards, in parallel to his playing career, he successfully completed a degree in sports science at the Ruprecht-Karls University in Heidelberg. In 2011, Rechner launched his "Goalkeeping Development" project, featuring goalkeeper-specific software that is now used by many international professional and amateur clubs.
