Josip Stanišić is renowned for his versatility and can play in both full-back positions as well as in the centre of defence. He was born in Munich and started playing football at FC Perlach. He later moved to TSV 1860 Munich and SC Fürstenfeldbruck, where he played for two years before joining FC Bayern in 2017. The right-back initially played for Bayern's youth teams and the second team. He has been in the first-team squad since 2021. He scored his first Bundesliga goal against VfL Wolfsburg on 14 May 2022. In the 2023/24 season, Stanišić was loaned out to Bayer 04 Leverkusen and won the Bundesliga and DFB Cup with the Werkself, as well as reaching the final of the Europa League.

Croatia international

Stanišić made two appearances for the German U19 national team but then chose to represent Croatia, his parent’s homeland. He reached third place with the Blazers at World Cup 2022 and also played in EURO 2024 and World Cup 2026.
