Serge Gnabry joined FC Bayern from Werder Bremen in 2017 and was loaned out to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for his first year. Since 2018 he’s been an established member of the record champions’ squad. Gnabry can be deployed flexibly in attack: he normally plays out wide but can also operate as a central striker.
From Germany to England and back
The Stuttgart native moved abroad at a young age, leaving VfB Stuttgart for Arsenal in England in 2011. He developed into a professional at the Gunners before returning to Germany in 2016, first to Bremen, then via Hoffenheim to Munich. Gnabry was voted Bayern’s Player of the Season in his debut 2018/19 campaign. He then won six trophies in the space of 12 months from 2020 to 2021.
Gnabry made his debut for the German senior team in November 2016 having won the silver medal with the Germany squad at the Rio Olympics earlier that year. He was also an U21 European champion in 2017. The winger missed the World Cup in 2026 because of injury.
