The FC Bayern München Supervisory Board decided unanimously at its meeting on 9 December 2019 to appoint Hasan Salihamidžić to the Executive Board. The former Bayern player has been sporting director at the club since August 2017.
Born on 1 January 1977 in Jablanica, Yugoslavia, Salihamidžić won everything there is to win as a player with Bayern. He was a six-time Bundesliga champion, lifted the DFB Cup four times and, to top it all off, won the Champions League and Intercontinental Cup in 2001. He made 365 competitive appearances for the Munich club between 1998 and 2007, scoring 46 goals. He won 42 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and was also named Bosnian Footballer of the Year four times.
As the board member in charge of sport, he is responsible for the first team, the FC Bayern Campus, all coaches and the associated backroom staff and departments.
Salihamidžić came to Germany at the age of 15. He took his first steps as a professional footballer with Hamburger SV, where he made 72 Bundesliga appearances between 1995 and 1998. After nine years in Munich, he joined Juventus in Italy in summer 2007.
He returned to German football in 2011 for a season with VfL Wolfsburg, before retiring in 2012. Afterwards, he built up a medium-sized company with a partner in Frankfurt. In 2016, he returned to Bayern, initially as a brand ambassador.
Salihamidžić is married and has three children.
