The MLS All-Stars' 23-player roster was officially announced, and awaiting Bayern on August 6 in Portland will be a squad filled with some of the league's biggest stars and best players. This year's All-Star coach, Caleb Porter, selected a roster with plenty of offensive firepower as well as World Cup and previous All-Star experience. In total, 14 of the 23 players have participated in a World Cup and most already have multiple All-Star appearances.

In goal, the MLS All-Stars will field Nick Rimando, one of the most seasoned goalkeepers in the league playing in his 15th year and making his fourth appearance in the annual event. He has 111 shutouts in his career which is one away from the all-time record. Backing him up will be DC United's Bill Hamid, who became the youngest goalkeeper to win an MLS match at 19 and whose team are currently second in the Eastern Conference.

The defense is full of experienced and award-winning players that Bayern will have to get through to win. Between Aurelien Collin, Chad Marshall, DeAndre Yedlin, Omar Gonzalez, Matt Besler and Michael Parkhurst, the backline has nine "MLS Best XI" nominations over the years and five "MLS Defender of the Year" awards.

The All-Stars will also boast an accomplished midfield with four US national team players that featured at the World Cup in Brazil this summer: Kyle Beckerman, Michael Bradley, Graham Zusi and US captain Clint Dempsey. All four played a significant part in the US's successful campaign in Brazil and do so as well for their clubs. Alongside them will be Portland Timbers midfield pair Will Johnson and Diego Valeri (who has recorded more assists this and last season combined than any other MLS player - 21),  Osvaldo Alonso, who was chosen Seattle Sounders team MVP for four consecutive seasons, and Australia's all-time leading goalscorer and last season New York Red Bulls MVP, Tim Cahill.

But perhaps the biggest standout this year is the level of output fron the frontline selected. Between them, the seven forwards have scored 66 goals and recorded 29 assists so far this season. Thierry Henry and Landon Donovan have 18 All-Star team nominations between them alone, while Bradley Wright-Phillips, Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane, Erick Torres and Obafemi Martins are five of the league's top seven scorers this year.

The 2014 All-Star game will take place at Providence Park in Portland on August 6.
