After a long international break, FC Bayern Women finally got back to business and in quite an impressive way. Coach Thomas Wörle's side earned a convincing 3:0 win against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Sunday and now sit third in the standings after three matchdays and their very first three points in front of the home fans. Caroline Abbe (22.) put Bayern in the lead early and Vanessa Bürki (82.) and Viktoria Schnaderbeck (85.) wrapped it up at the end.
All three Americans (Gina Lewandowski, Amber Brooks and Katie Stengel) started as FC Bayern got off to a furious start right away. Stengel was played through on goal just 15 seconds in but her shot did not have enough lift to beat the goalkeeper. Five minutes later Melanie Leupolz was played through in a similar position but put the ball wide. A free kick in the 20. minute nearly put Bayern ahead were it not for the post. The breakthrough finally came two minutes later when Brooks floated a ball into the penalty box that newcomer Abbe headed into the net.
Hoffenheim's did come alive in the second half however and had two shots on goal right away. The game could have taken a drastic turn in the 62. minute as Hoffenheim earned a penalty team capatain Moser could not convert. This time, the post saved Bayern. It was the wake-up call they needed and substitutes Bürki (82.) and Schnaderbeck (85.) would decide the game with two quick counter attacks as Hoffenheim pushed for a goal. A deserved win in the end.

Up next for Bayern is the biggest challenge to date as they travel to league-leaders and defending European champions VfL Wolfsburg on Wednesday.
