FC Bayern's international contingent will once again be busy in the coming week with a host of high-profile matches. The German national team faces a huge match at sold-out Wembley against England while Italy and the Netherlands face off in a decisive World Cup play-off. Switzerland, Norway and Finnland, meanwhile, will continue their preparation for the 2015 World Cup.
Germany and England will continue the two countries' rivalry on Sunday. The match was announced as sold out earlier this month with 55,000 seats filled at the famous Wembley stadium. Just like Germany, England won all 10 of their World Cup qualifiers and will present Silvia Neid's team with a huge challenge. Melanie Leupolz and Melanie Behringer were once again called up for Germany. The match will take part at 16:00 CET.
While the two Melanies will stand side by side against England, two FC Bayern players will face off against one another for the final spot at the World Cup in Canada next year. Vivianne Miedema's Netherlands against Raffaella Manieri and Katja Schroffenegger's Italy. The two legs of their crucial play-off series will take part on Saturday, November 22 and Thursday, November 27 with the first leg in Den Haag and the return in Italy in Verona.
Carolin Abbe, Vanessa Bürki (both Switzerland), Tinja Korpela (Finnland) and Nora Holstad (Norway) will also be active during the international breaks, albeit under less criticial circumstances. Finnland and Switzerland will be training for the World Cup on their own while Norway will play a friendly against New Zealand.
