"We've always found it tough in Tübingen"

The FC Bayern Basketball players will be reunited with one of their own this weekend. Nihad Djedovic, who was successfully operated on this week, will meet up with his team mates in Tübingen this weekend. FCBB’s topscorer was operated on in the city on this week, Bayern facing the WALTER Tigers there on Sunday (8th February, 17:00 CET).

“Tübingen have improved recently and they almost won in Berlin,” said head coach Svetislav Pesic. The hosts are currently 16th in the table and are no longer in a relegation place. “They are strong at home and we’ve always found it tough there; they’ve beaten us a few times. Consequently, it’s our aim to make sure that we concentrate throughout this tricky test.”

Pesic’s side have had less time to prepare for the game than their opponents. Bayern had a midweek match, where they beat Dijon 84-74 in the Eurocup, whilst the hosts haven’t played since last weekend’s 83-76 victory over Ludwigsburg. Bayern will be hoping to consolidate their position in the table.

Bayern travel to Tübingen full of confidence, having won 11 out of their last 12 competitive matches, however, they also know that it’s not going to be an easy clash. FCBB have travelled to the city three times and have lost two of those games. Their only win in Tübingen came during the championship winning season. When fixtures at the Audi Dome are taken into account, FCBB lead the head-to-head record 5-2.

The situation is similar to that of recent years. Tübingen are fighting at the lower end of the table but are recovering from a shaky start to the season, having won four of their last 10 games. Five of the Tigers’ six victories this season have been picked up at the Paul-Horn-Arena.

Tübingen’s increase in form is remarkable considering that Igor Perovic’s side have had to cope with the loss of Ex-Bayern star Jonathan Wallace, who has been unavailable since the middle of November 2014. The Point Guard is on the verge of returning to the court, having suffered from a shoulder injury. Vladimir Mihailovic (Hand) is also out. Former Bayern stars Bogdan Radosavljevic (8.3 points per gamel) and Aleksandar Nadjfeji (9.2 p.p.g) have impressed this season. Their top scorer is Jimmy McKinney (15.0 p.pg), closely followed by Augustine Rubit (12.2 p.p.g) and Captain Branislav Ratkovica (10.7 p.p.g). Point Guard Ratkovica averages 6.6 assists per game. No other player in the BBL has a higher average.
