They did it! At around 16:00 local time in Munich captain Melanie Behringer hoisted the Bundesliga champions trophy at the Grünwalder Stadion. The celebrations knew no limits. "I am speechless," said coach Thomas Wörle, "what this team accomplished is simply sensational. A truly great performance." FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also weighed in on a truly historic moment, "The Double. We've never had both the men and the women win the German championship in the same year."
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "Our girls did a great job. Wolfsburg, Frankfurt and Potsdam were surely the favorites. It is a bit of a surprise championship but they went all season unbeaten. Super! We've never had that before, that the men as well as the women won the German championship. As the first German club, we now have the men and the women as champions. You can only give the men and the women a great compliment. You can see Thomas Wörle's signature all over this. You can see that good work is being done here."
Thomas Wörle: "I am speechless. I have to give my team a great compliment. We put together an entirely new team after last season and are now champions without a single loss. What they've accomplished is just sensational. A truly great achievement. I am very, very proud. It is unbelievale."
Melanie Behringer: "It's my first championship, I almost can't believe it. It's just sensational."
Vivianne Miedema: "It's unbelievable. We worked so hard for it and I'm just overjoyed. Thomas formed a great team. That was decisive in the end this season."
