While the first team has been preparing for the new season with a tour of China and several high-profile matches this summer, FC Bayern's U15s have also been busy traveling in pre-season. This past week, coach Sebastian Dremmler and the FC Bayern U15 youth team spent some time in sunny Los Angeles competing against the brightest talents in US academies at adidas ESP (Elite Soccer Program) showcase.
The week-long competition included the best young talents from across the US and for FC Bayern's kids an ideal environment to test themselves and gain valuable experience as coach Dremmler noted. "It was a fantastic week for us. Facilities, games and sessions were unbelievably good. Adidas organized everything perfectly, and it was an exciting week for the kids. It was a good team-building trip for us two weeks into the pre-season as well. We got to know each other and are able to give individual attention to the kids."
Dremmler was also impressed by the quality of their American counterparts, "The US guys have good quality. I saw the GPS U10-U13s and there we have international quality players." We also asked Dremmler what the most important area of focus is for kids at this stage of development and the answer was resounding. "Technique! The kids have to learn the correct and clear technique from the very beginning. That means already the age of 8 and 9."
