FC Bayern are now unbeaten in 40 matches and are nearing a successful title defense following another impressive win against Freiburg. In what was an intense match on the road, it took FC Bayern until the second half to take the lead when captain Melanie Behringer scored in her 250th Bundesliga match. The in-form Vivianne Miedema added the second ten minutes from time while ex Freiburg player Sara Däbritz added the exclamation mark five minutes later.
Tom Wörle's team remain 12 points ahead of Wolfsburg in second place with five games to go in the season. "It's always difficult in Freiburg," said Behringer after the final whistle. "They've very well organized defensively, but we deserved our goals." Däbritz saw the game the same way, "We struggled in the first half. Freiburg were very compact at the back. The 1-0 helped us and the rest of the goals followed."
