Not even the international break could slow the FC Bayern women down. Tom Wörle's side recorded one of the biggest wins of the season this weekend against FF USV Jena in the Allianz Women's Bundesliga, a 5-1 victory to remain unbeaten and keep a strong 12-point lead atop the standings.
Dutch forward Vivianne Miedema scored a hattrick with captain Melanie Behringer and Nicole Rolser rounding out the score for the Reds. Bayern got a dream start and went up 3-0 after 23 minutes, with an opening assist from American Gina Lewandowski, which gave them a big advantage against a very stubborn and aggressive Jena. Miedema's hattrick saw her jump up to third in the scorer rankings, tied with two other players
"I'm very happy that we were able to win," said coach Wörle after the final whistle. "We got into the game quite well even if it was difficult in periods afterwards. Jena are a very aggressive side and didn't allow us much room to breathe."
