The German champions have today announced the teams, opponents and cities for the 2018 US Audi Summer Tour. FC Bayern will play two fixtures on the East coast as part of the the International Champions Cup.
On Wednesday July 25, FC Bayern will take on record Italian champions, Juventus, at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, with kick-off at 7.00pm ET.
Three days later, on Saturday July 28 at 7.00pm ET the German giants will face former coach Pep Guardiola and his recently-crowned English Champions, Manchester City at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
“The Audi Summer Tour is an important part of our international development strategy and supports our global marketing expansion,” said FC Bayern Munich’s Executive Board Member for Internationalization and Strategy, Jörg Wacker. “We’ve seen great progress in the U.S. since opening our New York office in 2014. We now have over 27 million FC Bayern followers and more than 135 official fan clubs here. The Audi Summer Tour will give our fans in the U.S. the chance to see our team in the flesh in their own backyard.”

The fixtures were announced today at a press conference in Miami, where World Cup winner and Germany’s most capped player Lothar Matthäus represented FC Bayern. The former club captain will accompany the team alongside other club legends on the tour in the summer.
“We are looking forward to the team returning stateside for the third time since the club opened the office in New York four years ago,” commented FC Bayern Munich’s President of the Americas, Rudolf Vidal. “FC Bayern has fans in all 50 states and preseason tours are a great way to give them the opportunity to see the team they love no matter how far away from Munich they live,” he added.
FC Bayern’s first team were last in the U.S. in 2016 when they played fixtures in Chicago, Charlotte and New York. In 2014 the team competed in the MLS All-Stars game in Portland.
The club opened its first international office in New York in 2014. Since then FC Bayern’s following has grown from 13M to 27M, the number of official fan clubs have increased from 8 to 136 across 39 states and the U.S. social media followers have more than doubled. The club is dedicated to growing soccer both on and off the field through grassroots, institutional commercial and media partnerships resulting in year-round activation.
