FC Bayern and ESPN announce content partnership

FC Bayern has today announced its first international content sharing agreement with ESPN, the world’s leading sports entertainment company headquartered in the U.S. The partnership, the first of its kind between ESPN and a global sports team, gives ESPN the rights to use and share FC Bayern video content in English and Spanish across its digital and linear platforms.

The German powerhouse will provide behind-the-scenes video, access-driven features, pre and post-match reports, press briefings, team travelogue, and more for use across a myriad of ESPN programs in the United States, Canada, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

“ESPN is one of the world’s leading sports entertainment company with an impressive audience” said FC Bayern Munich President of the Americas, Rudolf Vidal. “Since opening our first international office in the U.S. our mission has always been to bring the club closer to followers across the Americas, and ESPN’s reach and storytelling is an ideal platform to connect and service our family of fans,” he added.

“As one of the most successful clubs in European Football, Bayern Munich is a dominant global brand in the sport,” said Scott Guglielmino, ESPN Senior Vice President, Programming and Acquisitions. “This agreement provides ESPN with access to original content directly from Bayern Munich and will allow us to better serve soccer fans throughout the year.”

Video from FC Bayern Munich will be available on ESPN’s English-language studio programs, digital and social media platforms, such as SportsCenter; ESPN FC, the daily global soccer news, information and analysis program available in the U.S. on the company’s leading digital platform, including the new ESPN+ streaming service, the ESPN App and ESPN.com.

ESPN Spanish-language programs including SportsCenter, Fuera de Juego, Jorge Ramos y su Banda, Fútbol Picante, Los Capitanes, Nación ESPN, and more, will also have access to the video content created by Bayern Munich for Spanish-speaking fans in the U.S. and throughout Latin America.

ESPN will also be the official broadcaster of the International Champions Cup this summer, and will air both FC Bayern games on its channels.
