Determination is etched on Javi Martínez's face. The Spaniard fought his way through wind and snow on Tuesday morning during his individual session at Säbener Strasse - while his teammates enjoyed the day off. Martínez does not want to lose any more time in his recovery and aims to return to the Bayern first-team setup as soon as possible. The 31-year-old was not to be held back, in spite of the less than accommodating weather.
His goal firmly in sight: Javi Martínez giving everything he's got to resume fighting for points on the field in the near future.
Amidst a snowstorm, the defender/midfielder did elastic resistance training, completed some sprints, and did some close ball control, dribbling in between cones. Martínez suffered a muscular injury in his thigh on the last day of the first half of the season against VfL Wolfsburg in December. Since then he has been completing a private training program - and nothing can stop him.
Everything is easier with a ball at your feet! Together with fitness and rehab coach Thomas Wilhelmi, Javi Martínez braved the poor weather on Tuesday.
Who else knows the feeling of pushing your fitness levels to the limit, only to feel great afterward? After the hard work was finished, Martínez looked very pleased.
Yesterday Martinez's colleagues braved the conditions to put in a strong shift in training despite more stormy weather. 👇
