Determination is etched on Javi Martínez's face. The Spaniard fought his way through wind and snow on Tuesday morning during his individual session at Säbener Strasse - while his teammates enjoyed the day off. Martínez does not want to lose any more time in his recovery and aims to return to the Bayern first-team setup as soon as possible. The 31-year-old was not to be held back, in spite of the less than accommodating weather.
Amidst a snowstorm, the defender/midfielder did elastic resistance training, completed some sprints, and did some close ball control, dribbling in between cones. Martínez suffered a muscular injury in his thigh on the last day of the first half of the season against VfL Wolfsburg in December. Since then he has been completing a private training program - and nothing can stop him.
Yesterday Martinez's colleagues braved the conditions to put in a strong shift in training despite more stormy weather. 👇
