FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer visited the Munich food bank last Thursday as they handed out supplies. The 65-year-old has supported the organization personally with a cheque of €10,000 from FC Bayern München Hilfe e. V. "FC Bayern has always been socially engaged and when I heard that our basketballers had been to the Munich food bank, I immediately agreed to help," said Hainer. "Particularly now with the corona crisis, it's a great and important gesture that we're using our privileged position to help people."

The Munich food bank distributes groceries to around 20,000 people in poverty every week. However, they are currently low on stock. Normally they receive surplus food from restaurants, but most of them have closed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Particularly needed are long-life canned goods (especially fish), but also usable fruit and vegetables, dairy products, sausage, baby food, confectionary or similar. Goods can be posted or collected.
