Franz Beckenbauer
Born on 11th September 1945, the "Kaiser" won everything there was to win as a player. From 1965 to 1977 he played professionally for Bayern, scoring 44 goals in a total of 396 Bundesliga appearances. He holds the title of honorary captain of both Germany and Bayern Munich. Along with Pelé, Cruyff and Maradona he is considered one of the world's best footballers of the 20th century. As Bayern coach he won the German championship in 1994 and the UEFA Cup in 1996. He previously coached Germany to the runners-up position at the 1986 World Cup, and then to victory at the 1990 tournament.
Beckenbauer was president of the FC Bayern Munich members’ club from 1994 to 2009, and chairman of the FC Bayern Munich AG Supervisory Board from 2002 to 2009. In addition he was a member of the FIFA Executive Committee until 1 July 2011. After his role as chairman of the bid committee for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, he performed the task of president of the Organising Committee for the tournament in Germany to universal acclaim.
The former world-class libero has amassed a vast number of personal awards, such as the Silver Laurel Leaf, the Bavarian Order of Merit and the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. He was appointed Honorary President of the club on 27 November 2009, and was awarded a testimonial match at the Allianz Arena, in which Bayern played Real Madrid on 13 August 2010.
