Successful businessman Walter Mennekes has been a member of the club since 1993 and a member of the advisory board since December 2009. He was elected deputy vice-president on 25 November 2016.
Born on 13 December 1947 in the Sauerland region, he has been managing partner of MENNEKES Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Kirchhundem since 1975. The medium-size company has become a global industry leader in the production and worldwide marketing of standardised industrial plug devices with 16 offices in Germany, 31 in Europe and 36 outside of Europe with roughly 1,000 employees.
