Packed schedule demands 'full intensity'

After a two-week break FC Bayern enter what Thomas Müller described as "exciting weeks" away to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday at 15.30 CET. The German record champions aim to make a successful start to the typically busy autumn period against the men from Hesse, especially as they failed to win their last two matches before the international break.

"The last two matches weren't so good, we know that. I'm sure it'll be different in Frankfurt," FCB head coach Carlo Ancelotti declared before the final training session at the Säbener Strasse on Friday. "We know what we did wrong. We have to play with full intensity tomorrow, then it'll be a good match."

Before the first of seven fixtures in 22 days it remains to be seen who will travel to Frankfurt. "There are players who didn't exercise yesterday but who were able to train today," said Ancelotti, who has to wait for the final session and observe the players who have returned from national team duty. "I'll decide on the line-up after the training session."

Robben ready, Ancelotti issues warning

On a positive note, Bayern's injury roster is shrinking. Arjen Robben has resumed the squad programme after recovering from bruised ribs. The Dutchman is "ready" for the encounter with Eintracht, according to Ancelotti. Long-term absentee Holger Badstuber is making good progress too. The centre-back might join the squad in place of Javi Martínez, who has sustained a knock.

The hosts have a chance, according to Eintracht head coach Niko Kovac, whose troops have taken ten points in the first six matches, their best start to the season since 2012. "We want to turn in a good display and take points tomorrow," the former Bayern pro said on Friday. "We've clocked up seven points at home against very strong opponents. Bayern are the icing on the cake. We won't try to attack recklessly, but we want to hit them where it hurts and make our presence felt."

Ancelotti is wary of the men from Hesse and their obvious strength at home. Their last victory over Bayern was more than six years ago, but the hosts have gone unbeaten in five matches on their home field. "Frankfurt played very well in their last three home matches, they've done well. It's going to be difficult, but we want to return with a good game under our belts."
