FC Bayern beat Greuther Fürth 4-1 on Sunday, consolidating their lead in the table. Branimir Hrgota handed the away side the lead before half-time, Robert Lewandowski levelling right after the restart. Sebastian Griesbeck put through his own goal under pressure before Lewandowski closed out the meeting with ten minutes to go, and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting rounded off the final scoreline in injury time.
Bayern started with Sven Ulreich in goal and Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernández and Omar Richards in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Corentin Tolisso featured in a twin holding role behind Marcel Sabitzer, Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané, with Lewandowski up front. Tolisso had to be replaced with injury midway through the first half, Serge Gnabry taking over. Choupo-Moting replaced Richards at half-time, with Niklas Süle, Paul Wanner and Marc Roca coming on for Hernández, Sané and Sabitzer in the second half.
Trailing at half-time
The 25,000 crowd at the Allianz Arena saw the home side in the driving seat, Tolisso testing keeper Andreas Linde and Lewandowski seeing a shot blocked, although Ulreich was soon called into action and shone with a strong stop against Jamie Leweling.
For all their possession, Bayern lacked the final ball, and Ulreich soon made another save against Leweling. A deflected Sané shot only just evaded Richards at the far post. The visitors took the lead when Hrgota put a free-kick into the wall from 20 yards, but the ball took a deflection and wrongfooted Ulreich. Linde denied Müller, and Bayern were trailing at half-time.
Four goals
Bayern hit the ground running after the restart and were rewarded immediately, Gnabry's cross evading Choupo-Moting, but Lewandowski was on hand to tap in from point-blank range. Lewandowski mishit another effort before Sabitzer fired wide, but Munich's sustained onslaught yielded a second goal when Griesbeck put a Müller centre through his own goal.
Bayern's impetus ebbed away now and Fürth reacted, Nielsen firing wide before Christiansen and Meyerhöfer both hit the post. Munich slowly clawed their way back into the contest, with Sané seeing an effort blocked, but Lewandowski soon put the game to bed, rising high to nod in Süle's header. Linde denied Müller before Gnabry's square invited Choupo-Moting to add the final flourish in injury time, and referee Robert Hartmann blew for full-time.
The result means Bayern have 55 points from 23 matches. The Bavarians will be back in action next Saturday, when they travel to face Frankfurt.
