FC Bayern were held to a 3-3 draw by Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. Munich were dominant throughout and took a deserved lead through Minjae Kim before Frankfurt's Omar Marmoush and Hugo Etikité scored on the break. Dayot Upamecano levelled things up again before half-time. Michael Olise then restored Bayern's advantage early in the second half, but Marmoush's stoppage-time goal meant Frankfurt and Bayern shared the spoils.
Munich lined up with Manuel Neuer in goal and Raphaël Guerreiro, Upamecano, Kim and Alphonso Davies in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlovi ć anchored a midfield featuring Olise, Thomas Müller and Serge Gnabry, with Harry Kane up front.
Kingsley Coman and Mathys Tel took over from Gnabry and Kane midway through the second half, with Eric Dier, João Palhinha and Konrad Laimer coming on for Upamecano, Pavlović and Olise in the closing stages.
Action-packed first half
Bayern were dominant from the off and almost took the lead after a minute when Olise turned Guerreiro's square ball just wide. Eintracht keeper Kauã Santos denied Müller and Olise, but Müller soon invited Kim to tap in from the resulting corner. The hosts then levelled with their first attack of the game as Ansgar Knauff found the charging Marmoush, who beat Neuer.
Santos denied Müller and Gnabry, but Frankfurt were clinical and took the lead from their second shot when Marmoush set up Etikité to finish off another counter. FCB responded immediately, Olise seeing an effort blocked, but Upamecano was on hand to slot home. Neuer denied Etikité as the sides went into half-time with the scores level.
Late equaliser
Kane fired over a free-kick just after the restart, but Bayern retook the lead when Kane passed for Olise to pick out the bottom left corner of the net. Kimmich had an audacious free-kick saved and another effort deflected wide. Tel miscued a header before Santos made another fine save to deny Coman.
Eintracht opened up in the closing stages and Rasmus Kristensen's low cross only just evaded Eric Dina Ebimbe, but Frankfurt scored again on the break when Dina Ebimbe played through Marmoush deep into added. Munich went looking for a final reply, but Müller saw a close-range effort kept out by a combination of Santos and the post as it ended 3-3.
The result means Bayern top the table on 14 points from six matches, ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference. A number players will be on national team duty during the international break before the Reds return to action on 19 October, when they entertain VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
