Home match against Gladbach to be "celebration for everyone"

Curtain up for a celebration in red and white at the Allianz Arena! FC Bayern entertain Borussia Mönchengladbach in the last home match of the season on Saturday evening (kick-off at 6.30pm CEST, live coverage on fcbayern.com and in the FC Bayern app with our text commentary and free web radio). Bayern will be presented with the Meisterschale after the match against the Foals. The focus will also be on Thomas Müller, who is set to make his 750th competitive appearance, his last one for FC Bayern at the Allianz Arena. Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game in our preview.

We talked to Thomas Müller ahead of his last home match for FC Bayern:

Latest news from Bayern

The Bundesliga trophy returns to Munich! FC Bayern’s 3-3 draw away at RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw against Freiburg the next day mean FC Bayern are German champions. “We've been league leaders since Matchday 3, we've been very steady and have always responded well to setbacks. It's a special and important title win. There's a good spirit, we're hungry for more,” board member for sport Max Eberl said at Friday’s press conference.

FC Bayern’s championship celebrations:

Vincent Kompany’s men want to reward their fans with another win in the last home game of the season against Gladbach. “We want to win this match, it’s the final home match and Thomas Müller’s last match at the Allianz Arena,” Kompany stressed: “It’s a celebration for everyone. We want to experience a perfect Saturday. I hope we can enjoy the match, but it won’t be an easy task, our opponents are good.”

Opponents Borussia Mönchengladbach

Borussia Mönchengladbach are in ninth place on 45 points with two matchdays to go. After five matches without a win and a five-point deficit to sixth place, qualification for European competition is unrealistic. Head coach Gerardo Seoane’s men conceded 11 goals in the last three matches (3-2 defeat to Dortmund, 4-3 defeat to Kiel, 4-4 draw against Hoffenheim). “We conceded a lot of goals as a result of poor tackling recently. We lacked the bite you need and the decisive alertness at set pieces at times. We’ve addressed the weaknesses in detail in video analysis sessions, talks and training sessions,” said Seoane. Now it’s about “being compact to close down the space, but at the same time it’s our clear goal to be bold, have possession and play an active role,” said the Gladbach coach.

Team news

Captain Manuel Neuer is set to return between the sticks after recovering from a calf strain, according to Kompany. Bayern will be without long-term absentees Alphonso Davies (cruciate ligament), Dayot Upamecano (knee), Hiroki Ito (metatarsal) and Jamal Musiala (hamstring).

Gladbach will be without Nathan Ngoumou, Yvandro Borges Sanches and Moritz Nicolas, with Marvin Friedrich, Nico Elvedi and Alassane Plea doubtful.

The Allianz Arena will light up with a special text on Saturday:

What the coaches say

We've prepared because it's an important match for us. We don't have less pressure for the final two matches. We'll keep going.

Vincent Kompany

We can't afford any weak phases. Opponents like FC Bayern punish them immediately.
