Bayern make it 10 wins from 10

FC Bayern beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 on Saturday evening to win their tenth competitive match in a row. Luis Díaz handed Bayern a very early lead and Harry Kane doubled the advantage before the half-hour. Díaz rounded off the final scoreline in the closing stages.

Munich started with Manuel Neuer in goal and Sacha Boey, Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer in defence. Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka anchored a midfield featuring Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry and Díaz, with Kane up front. Aleksandar Pavlović came on for Goretzka at half-time, with Raphaël Guerreiro, Nicolas Jackson, Tom Bischof and Lennart Karl taking over from Gnabry, Kane, Boey and Díaz in the second half.

Two up at half-time

Bayern took the lead after just 15 seconds, when Eintracht cleared a long ball only as far as Gnabry, who squared for Díaz to turn home. Can Uzun fired over from distance before Robin Koch almost put through his own goal under pressure from Kane, hitting the bar. Munich soon had the ball in the back of the net for a second time, only for Kane’s goal to be chalked off for offside. Jean-Matteo Bahoya fired past Neuer, but the goal was ruled out on review for an earlier handball.

Díaz set up Kane, who hammered into the bottom left corner from distance to make it two. The Colombian fired an effort just over and Gnabry was also wayward before Neuer beat Bahoya to a long ball as Bayern went into half-time two goals up.

Díaz seals it

The Bavarians created a string of chances after the restart, with Gnabry firing wide and seeing another effort deflected behind before Kane hit the post. Gnabry and Kimmich saw their shots blocked and Ritsu Doan fired wide at the other end as Bayern’s impetus ebbed away for a spell.

Kane was upended by Frankfurt keeper Kauã Santos in the box, but the assistant’s flag was raised. Guerreiro finally teed up Díaz, who sidestepped Koch and rifled into the roof of the net to round off his brace and the final scoreline.

The result means Bayern top the table on a perfect 18 points from six matches, four clear of Borussia Dortmund. The team make their annual team visit to the Oktoberfest on Sunday before a number of FCB players will be on national team duty during the international break. Munich return to action on 18 October when they entertain Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
