Hoeneß: ‘We can be very happy’

Bayern eased to a supremely comfortable victory at home to bottom club Energie Cottbus on Saturday, dominating the play from the first minute onwards, and striking back at once following Energie’s shock opener. General manager Uli Hoeneß was delighted by the champions' commanding performance: “The team reacted well to going a goal behind, scoring twice in quick succession."

Reaction to Bayern v Energie Cottbus

Uli Hoeneß: “We can be very happy. The team reacted well to going a goal behind, scoring twice in quick succession. Naturally, we eased off after going 4-1 up, because we know we’ve got a challenging week ahead with the Bucharest game, then Leverkusen away next Saturday, and then Hoffenheim. That’s obviously going to be tough, so it’s understandable if we chose to conserve some energy. But we’re ready for these matches, and it’ll be exciting.“

Jürgen Klinsmann: “We’re very pleased with the three points. In terms of the result, it would have been nice to see a couple more goals, because we certainly had the chances. We’re slowly getting to where we want to be, because our goal is to be top at Christmas. The team is picking up more and more rhythm, which is obviously partly due to an exceptional player like Franck Ribéry. He keeps coming up with moments of inspiration. We come face-to-face with Leverkusen and TSG Hoffenheim now, and we’ll see how it all looks come mid-December.“
