Saturday provides a last chance of the winter break for the Bayern stars to put their feet up and draw breath, after Jürgen Klinsmann decided against scheduling a squad training session. The second half of the season opens in earnest three days later with the DFB Cup Round of 16 trip to VfB Stuttgart, followed by the official Bundesliga restart fixture away to Hamburger SV another three days after that.
With such a challenging schedule, Bayern will know exactly where they currently stand immediately after the restart. “The first couple of matches are very important,” confirmed Bastian Schweinsteiger, who nevertheless believes FCB will improve on their opening displays of term back in August. “We’re well set to take the maximum possible from the initial fixtures.”
