‘We more than deserved the victory’

Bayern are up to second in the Bundesliga after 19 games thanks to a hard-fought 3-1 victory at home to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. Jürgen Klinsmann’s side squandered a string of inviting chances, but Miroslav Klose struck twice in the last three minutes to hand his side a tight but deserved victory. The Bayern camp was both relieved and pleased afterwards, as Munich now lie just a point off league leaders Hoffenheim.

Reaction to Bayern v Borussia Dortmund:

Jürgen Klinsmann: “We were determined to get the result we wanted today, but we were initially forced to fight back after conceding a goal so early. We had the chances to turn it around much earlier, but we ultimately had to wait until the very end. However, we finally earned our reward. The team was totally committed. We more than deserved the victory. We’re very, very pleased now. We’ve set our sights high for the next few weeks.”

Miroslav Klose: “I’ve scored twice, but winning was the thing that mattered. We were under pressure after a poor performance in Hamburg. It was only going to be a good weekend for us if we won and took all three points. I think we can now say it’s been a good weekend for us.”
