Bayern direct ‘smouldering rage’ at Köln

People of all ages in their hundreds of thousands take to the Cologne streets at this time of year for the boisterous pre-Lent festival of Karneval, but Bayern have every intention of pooping the party for local club FC Köln. After two defeats in three matches since the winter break, the champions are determined to beat the Rhineland side in Munich on Saturday (Live in English from 3.15 pm on FCB.tv Web Radio), closing the gap on the Bundesliga leaders and boosting morale ahead of a critical run of matches in three competitions.

“After we missed out on going top of the table in Berlin, we need to make sure we make progress this weekend,” keeper Michael Rensing declared on the eve of the Allianz Arena showdown. Following last week’s reverse, he and his team mates “didn’t have a great week. We’re all smouldering with anger. There’s not much to say, to be honest: we have to take three points,” the 23-year-old stated.
