Early starter Rensing between the sticks again

Michael Rensing got exactly the weather he wanted for his first training session of the summer: the rain came pouring down. “It’s the best weather for a keeper,” the 25-year-old grinned, blades of grass clinging to his face. Apart from goalkeeping coach Walter Junghans, the shot-stopper cut a lonely figure at the Säbener Strasse on Monday morning. The squad are not due back for another 16 days on 1 July, but Rensing is already there.

“I’ve started early so I can hit the ground running in pre-season,” he explained to fcbayern.de. Indeed, Michael has some lost time to make up. “I’ve not kept goal for the last two months,” he pointed out. An injured finger has prevented Rensing from plying his trade since mid-April. The only training he managed under caretaker boss Jupp Heynckes was as an outfield player.
