Superstar winger Arjen Robben has successfully retained the FC Bayern Player of the Season accolade. In the poll among fans which ended in early June, the Dutchman repeated his achievement from last season by topping the vote by a large margin. Robben received 32.9 percent of the votes cast, comfortably beating Thomas Müller (20.1 percent) and Manuel Neuer (18.5 percent) into second and third places.

"This is a fantastic surprise. Big thanks to all the fans and greetings from my vacation," Robben said to In 30 appearances last season, Robben scored 19 goals and provided eight assists. Unfortunately for the club, Arjen missed the crucial run-in to the end of the campaign after rupturing stomach muscles in the meeting with Borussia Mönchengladbach on Matchday 26.

The deadly forward was in superb form at the time and scoring almost at will, so his absence was keenly felt in the decisive matches in the Champions League and DFB Cup. However, he has now recovered completely from the injury and will rejoin the majority of his team-mates on 1 July for the first training workout of the new campaign. He had this promise for all the fans: "We'll go for it again next season!"

To markRobben's accolade, the FCB Online Shop is offering the player's name and number free of charge on the new home shirt as the Highlight of the Week.
