Relief was the main emotion in the Bayern camp after a narrow but deserved 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. “It wasn't an interesting game for the crowd, but the three points are important,” summarised Robert Lewandowski. Frankfurt coach Niko Kovac is keeping his fingers crossed for his former club in the Champions League encounter with Benfica.
Reaction to Bayern v Frankfurt
Pep Guardiola: “We started well and had lots of good moves, not only Franck's incredible goal. Now we focus on Benfica. I hope we can deliver our best performance.”
Robert Lewandowski: “It wasn't an interesting game for the crowd, but the three points are important. We certainly had the Champions League match against Benfica on Tuesday on our minds. We have to play much, much better then.”
Manuel Neuer: “If you only score one goal you need a strong defence. We turned in a good defensive display as a team today.”
Niko Kovac (Eintracht coach): “I'm not satisfied with the result, but I am with our performance. We made it very difficult for Bayern. In the second half we were pretty strong on the break too, but failed to deliver the final pass. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Bayern against Benfica.”
Bastian Oczipka (Eintracht): “Unfortunately we lost, but we turned in a decent display for the most part. You could see how hard we've worked in the last few weeks.”
Stefan Aigner (Eintracht): “We had some chances and should have made more of them here and there. We wanted to take something today, it didn't work. But it was a good performance.”
