Munich airport is the most popular airport in Europe, and now it is even more attractive for Bayern fans! FC Bayern have modernised and reopened the Fan Shop at Erdinger Moos.
"It's a great fan shop," said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "It's very modern and about 50 percent larger than before. We're certain the fans will love the shop." The shop offers everything a Bayern fan could wish for over an area of 240 m². A staff of 12 serve the fans in an ultra-modern setting. "The Fan Shop is a gem! We're very proud and happy," the FC Bayern chairman said.
The fans who attended the reopening were in for an exciting programme: the championship shield and the DFB Cup trophy were displayed on a big stage. Board director Jörg Wacker, head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Franck Ribéry and Javi Martínez attended the reopening. Mascot Berni entertained the youngest fans, stadium announcer Stephan Lehmann and DJ Fleischi took care of the supporting programme. The crowd snapped countless pictures, and the Munich stars set aside plenty of time for autographs and photos.
Ultra-modern shop in the digital age
The Fan Shop, which is the fourth completely modernised FC Bayern Shop, is "gorgeous," according to Ancelotti. In total there are 11 FC Bayern Fan Shops in Germany. "We're in the digital age, so we want to appear modern," declared Rummenigge, referring for example to the large LED screens. "You can watch FC Bayern matches and training sessions here. We have everything a Bayern fan needs to be happy!" Ribéry too was impressed by the "very, very nice shop. Bayern do a lot for the fans, I like that."
The Munich airport authorities are also very pleased about the Fan Shop. "Our job is to make sure we're not just any airport," said CEO Andrea Gebbeken: "The people should see they're in Bavaria, in Munich. That's why brands from Bavaria have a strong presence here. Of course this includes FC Bayern as a figurehead for Bavaria!"
Rummenigge returned the compliment: "Munich airport is one of the biggest and most beautiful airports in the world. We really like this location because many local fans come by, but also many people from abroad." And now the Fan Shop is even more worth a visit than ever before!
