After a 29-day winter break FC Bayern open the second half of the current Bundesliga campaign away to SC Freiburg on Friday evening, and the men from Munich will take heart from an impressive record against their promoted opponents. FCB have won 22 of 32 encounters with Freiburg and lost only four (all on the road), with six games ending in a draw. has delved into the facts and stats prior to the restart.

Impressive record

FC Bayern have won all of their last 26 Bundesliga meetings with promoted sides, scoring 85 goals and conceding only 12. The last time the Bavarians failed to take three points was in August 2010, a 2-0 reverse in Kaiserslautern.

Christian Streich's troops boast an average of 117.7 kilometres per match, a best-mark in the Bundesliga. Owing to their dominant play, Bayern lie 15th in this respect, running on average 6.5 kilometres less than Freiburg.

Pillar Martínez

Javi Martínez has made the starting XI in 17 competitive fixtures so far this season. FC Bayern have conceded only six goals in these matches, whereas they conceded no fewer than ten goals and kept a clean sheet only once in the eight games without Martínez in the starting line-up.

Gräfe in charge

Manuel Gräfe will be the man with the whistle for the Friday night opener. The 43-year-old sports scientist takes charge of his second fixture involving the Reds this term. He previously oversaw the 2-0 victory away to Schalke on Matchday 2. Gräfe will be assisted by Guido Kleve and Markus Sinn, with Benedikt Kempkes acting as fourth official.
