Lewandowski faces favourite opponent

FC Bayern Munich and FC Augsburg have met 15 times competitively since the Reds were promoted to the Bundesliga in 1965 – and the record champions hold a clear lead in the head-to-head record. FCB have celebrated 13 victories over the Fuggerstädter, losing just two when Bayern already had the title wrapped up for the season. fcbayern.com brings you all the important facts and figures for this Bavarian derby.

Lewandowski the Augsburg expert

Eleven Bundesliga appearances against Augsburg for Robert Lewandowski, 13 goals – what a record! The Pole has more top-flight goals against FCA than against any other team. He bagged himself a brace in the 3-1 victory earlier this season, as well as setting up the goal for Arjen Robben to make it 2-0.

Augsburg the comeback kings

Bayern may well need a goal or two from Lewandowski again today because Augsburg don’t let conceding goals knock them off track. FCA have fallen behind in all nine league games in 2017, but the Fuggerstädter have still managed to pick up 11 points from these matches with three wins and two draws.

No laughing matter on April Fools

Things have not always been fun and laughter for Bayern on 1st April. The record champions’ last victory on that date was in 1978 with a 3-2 win at home to MSV Duisburg. Since then, there have been three draws and two defeats in five matches.

Dingert in charge

Christian Dingert from Lebecksmühle near Kaiserslautern will officiate this Bavarian derby. The 36-year-old public administrator has previously taken charge of 12 FCB matches, with the Reds winning eight of them (D3, L1). He last refereed a Bayern fixture in October 2016 – the previous game against Augsburg (3-1). He will be assisted on the sidelines by Tobias Christ and Arne Aarnink. Daniel Schlager is the fourth official.
