Thomas Müller made it 3-1, 5-1 and 6-2 at the BayArena on Tuesday, bagging his second hat-trick in the DFB Cup after netting three times in the 2013/14 first round match against BSV Schwarz-Weiß Rehden. The forward improved his impressive record in this competition. He was involved in 42 goals in 43 DFB Cup matches, scoring 27 goals and setting up another 15.

Scoring cup goals 25, 26 and 27 wearing Bayern colours, Müller surpassed FCB chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (25). Müller is second only to Gerd Müller, who has scored 78 cup goals for Bayern. Another stat shows how crucial every single goal was for the men from Munich. FC Bayern have won all 18 DFB Cup matches with Müller on the scoresheet, a new record in the competition!

22nd cup final

FC Bayern have made it to the DFB Cup final for the 22nd time, extending their record in this competition. The record cup winners have hoisted the trophy after 18 out of 21 finals. The men from Munich boast another record streak on their way to Berlin: FC Bayern came out on top in 26 DFB Cup away matches in a row, extending their record. The Bavarians progressed 23 times after 90 or 120 minutes and won three times on penalties.

Next milestone for Heynckes

Jupp Heynckes oversaw his 76th DFB Cup match as a coach, drawing equal with Udo Lattek. Only Otto Rehhagel (92) boasts more cup matches as a coach. The 72-year-old extended a personal streak, advancing to the final in his last three cup campaigns.
