Milestones for Bayern and Lewandowski

FC Bayern proved goal-hungry in the 5-1 Champions League victory over Benfica. Arjen Robben scored the Bavarians' 450th goal in Europe's elite club competition when he netted his second goal on the night. Only Real Madrid (548) and Barcelona (487) have netted more often than Munich (453) in this competition. The 34-year-old Dutchman also sealed a personal landmark on Tuesday. He scored his 26th European goal wearing Bayern colours, drawing level with Dieter Hoeneß. Only four FC Bayern players boast more European goals than Robben.

Milestone for Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski too scored twice against the Portuguese side, bagging his seventh Champions League brace for Bayern, more than any other Munich man in this competition. The Pole scored his CL goals number 50 and 51 in his 77th appearance. Only Ruud van Nistelrooy, who needed 62 matches, and Lionel Messi (66) reached the 50-goal mark earlier. Taken altogether, only five players boast more Champions League goals than Lewandowski.

250 for Rafinha

Rafinha too had reason to celebrate on Tuesday. The Brazilian made his 250th competitive appearance wearing Bayern colours and his 50th European appearance for FCB.

Ajax through to last sixteen

Ajax were the first Group E team to seal a spot in the last sixteen when they beat AEK 2-0 earlier on Tuesday. The Greek champions were eliminated, whereas Erik ten Hag's men advanced to the knockout stages for the first time since the 2005/06 season. Dusan Tadic scored both goals midway through the second half. Ajax and FC Bayern battle it out for topspot in the group in Amsterdam on 12 December.
