Strong home streak after the winter break

The Bundesliga returns to the Allianz Arena! FC Bayern entertain VfB Stuttgart in the first home match in 2019, and they will be looking to extend an impressive streak. The German record champions have gone unbeaten in the first home match of the year since February 1996 when they lost 4-1 to Karlsruher SC. Bayern have clocked up 18 victories and four draws since then. fcbayern.com has compiled the most interesting facts and stats prior to the Southern derby.

In-form Bayern face stuttering Swabians

FC Bayern are the only Bundesliga side to take maximum points in the last six matches, scoring 16 goals and conceding only two. Stuttgart have just 14 points and a goal difference of -24 goals over the entire season, which is their weakest Bundesliga record in club history at this stage.

Strong home record

VfB's record away to FCB could do with a polish. The German record champions have won 34 of their 50 Bundesliga home matches against Stuttgart. The Swabians have won only six times, with ten games ending in a draw. The goal difference of 115 scored and 54 conceded also favours the men from Munich, who have also won 17 of their last 18 competitive matches against VfB both home and away.

Successful on Sundays

Bayern have won all of their last seven Bundesliga matches against Stuttgart on a Sunday. The German record champions have scored 26 goals and conceded only six along the way. The Swabians have only won one match against Bayern on a Sunday, a 3-1 victory at the Olympic Stadium on 13 February 1994.

Goals guaranteed

None of FC Bayern's 50 Bundesliga home matches against Stuttgart have ended goalless. The Bavarians have found the net in 48 of the encounters. They only failed to score in the very first home match in April 1966 and in September 1999, both times a 1-0 defeat. The Southern derby sees an average of 3.38 goals per match.
