Leon Goretzka scored three goals in the two games in January - no other Bundesliga player was as big a threat at the start of the new year as the Germany international, who played a major part in FC Bayern's two wins at the start of the second half of the season. This was also recognised by the German record champions' fans - the 23-year-old was voted Player of the Month for the first time in January.
The result was clear: 75.2% of the votes went to Goretzka, who left not only two-goal striker Robert Lewandowski (4.9%) behind, but also Joshua Kimmich (4.5%), who was credited with two assists. Both players also impressed in January with strong performances.
Three Bayern fans can also celebrate
In addition to the first-time winner, three Bayern fans who cast their votes in the ballot also have good reason to celebrate, and each will take delivery of a shirt signed by the monthly winner. Well done to Roman Röttger, Andreas Krell and Julia Schneider on winning a shirt signed by Goretzka. Congratulations!
