Niko Kovac will in all probability have to make do without captain Manuel Neuer and James Rodríguez in the first of the two finales. The Germany keeper (torn muscle in his calf) and the Colombian playmaker (muscle problem) struggled with their injuries recently, so the last Bundesliga match of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt comes too early for them.
"The calf is okay so far. We'll have to see how it goes when he completes goalkeeping exercises. He's on the road to recovery," the Bayern coach commented on Neuer, who was unable to complete the whole session on Thursday. Kovac thinks the 33-year-old will only be available for the cup final against RB Leipzig on 25 May. James missed Thursday's session. "He won't be fit for the weekend," confirmed Kovac.
All-clear for Davies
Kovac thinks all other pros will be fit for the last Bundesliga match. Joshua Kimmich's workload was "reduced," but the defensive all-rounder has no problems. The same goes for Javi Martínez, who "will rejoin his team-mates" on the training ground on Friday. Thiago, who had to be subbed off with a knock against Leipzig, returned to full traning on Wednesday. "He's feeling good," said Kovac.
Alphonso Davies' minor training accident turned out to be harmless. He "slipped a bit. At first we thought something had happened, but it was only a scare. Nothing's happened," explained the Bayern coach.
