A big accolade for Robert Lewandowski. The FC Bayern striker is in the UEFA Team of the Year 2019. In the fan vote conducted by UEFA, the 31-year-old is named amongst the top eleven players of last year. Lewandowski is up front alongside the multi-award winning World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) and Lionel Messi (Barcelona) plus African Player of the Year Sadio Mané from Champions League winners Liverpool.
For Lewandowski, who scored the fastest four-goal haul in the history of the Champions League in the 6-0 victory in the group match at Red Star Belgrade, it is the first time he has been named in the UEFA team. After Jérôme Boateng in 2016, Lewandowski is the first Bayern player to make it into the top eleven. Lewandowski is currently the top scorer in Europe's premier club competition with ten goals.
In addition to the captain of the Polish national team, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry and Thiago are among the 50 players nominated for the UEFA Team of the Year 2019.
