Benjamin Pavard may only be in his first season with FC Bayern, but he has already earned himself a regular place in the record champions’ defence. Despite only turning 24 on Saturday, the World Cup winner has had little trouble settling into life in Munich thanks to the “French connection” of Corentin Tolisso, Kingsley Coman, Lucas Hernandez and Michael Cuisance, immediately finding his place in the team.
Place secured in defence
Pavard has been deployed at right-back in almost every game this season, only missing out on two Bundesliga matches. He’s featured in all seven Champions League fixtures, meaning he’s made 34 appearances this term. Only Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich have played more minutes.
Take a look at Pavard’s time with Bayern so far:
Involved in attack
Pavard has demonstrated his versatility on the pitch. At the back, he ensures defensive stability, but he also plays a key part in attack, twice getting his name on the scoresheet with a pair of trademark stunning hits. His pinpoint delivery from crosses has also seen him register another five assists.
