7 facts on the Bundesliga restart at Union Berlin

1. FCB on impressive run

Bayern have won 31 of a possible 33 points across the last 11 matchdays, with the only blip being the 0-0 draw against RB Leipzig on Matchday 21. The Reds have scored 38 goals in that run, conceding just six and keeping six clean sheets.

2. A force on the road

FCB are the first club in Bundesliga history to score at least three goals in each of their last five away league games. In total, the Munich side have 73 goals from 25 matches. Only Bayern themselves have ever had more at this stage with 74 in 1973/74 and 2013/14.

The match at Union is the 1,866th in Bayern’s Bundesliga history, of which the Reds have won 1,111. It moves FCB level with Hamburg (746 wins) for games played. Only Werder Bremen have contested more (1,890) in the league’s 57-year history.

4. Fortress Försterei

Union have won five of their last eight games at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei (D1, L2), keeping clean sheets in each of them. Their last fixture was also their first draw at home in the top flight, against Wolfsburg (2-2).

Serge Gnabry has provided four goals and three assists in the last seven league games. in 14 Bundesliga appearances under Hansi Flick, the 24-year-old has chipped in with an impressive nine goals and six assists.

6. Berlin Airlift

Union’s Sebastian Andersson has scored six headed goals this season, which is the most in the league. The last players to net more in a Bundesliga season were Stefan Kießling and Mario Mandzukic with seven each in 2013/14.

7. Eisernen reliant on set pieces

Only two teams have scored more goals from set pieces this season than Union’s 14. With a total of 32 goals, it means 44% have come in this manner, which is a league high. As well as Andersson’s heading, captain Christopher Trimmel has been a major player with seven assists, all of which have come from dead balls. It makes him the league’s leading provider from set pieces.
