90 goals in 30 matches: no other team in Bundesliga history has been as prolific as FC Bayern in 2019/20. Robert Lewandowski has scored one third of all their goals this term. Bayern's number nine struck again away to Leverkusen.
On course for new record
The goal banished any lingering doubts in the top match against Leverkusen: Bayern's early pressing paid off. They picked up a stray pass and quickly went on the attack, Thomas Müller's cross finding Lewndowski, whose header from eight yards found the net, making it 4-1.
Only one has netted more often
With his 30th Bundesliga goal this term, the Pole hit a mark that he has only reached twice in his career so far (2015/16 and 2016/17). This time, however, he did not just manage to do so at the end of the season, but after just 30 games - the last person to boast similar numbers was none other than Gerd Müller (33 goals in 1972/73).
Personal best surpassed
Lewandowski has already scored 44 goals in all competitions and thus celebrates a new personal record in professional football! He set his previous record three years ago with 43 goals. The Pole's goal hunt will continue on Wednesday at 20.45 CEST, when FC Bayern meet Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup semi-finals.
Not only Bayern's top striker is on course for records. FCB's best prover Thomas Müller turned in a strong performance against Leverkusen:
