It was a goal for the history books! In the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, Kingsley Coman headed FC Bayern into a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute. It remained the only goal of the evening and therefore secured the title in Europe's premier club competition. Looking at the statistics, you could say that FCB's CL season ended as it began!
Coman kicks off incredible trophy-filled season
Already on the first matchday, in the 3-0 home win over Red Star Belgrade, the Frenchman ensured that Bayern took the lead. Here too, he did it with a header (34th minute) to put the Reds 1-0 up. The difference to the final: in Lisbon, Joshua Kimmich crossed from the right with pinpoint accuracy, whereas against Red Star, the cross was provided by Ivan Perišić on the left. So Coman scored the first Bayern goal of the CL campaign and kicked off an incredible season.
Personal best in the Champions League
The 24-year-old also scored against Tottenham on the last day of the group stages. And again he opened the scoring for FCB. In the 14th minute, after a pass from Serge Gnabry, he slotted in from an unmarked position in front of the keeper. Months later, the crowning glory came with the historic moment at the Estádio da Luz and the decisive goal in the final. Coman had never before managed to score three goals in a Champions League campaign. All three were extremely important, and one of them was even historic!
