Hainer and Rummenigge thank Bayern fans
FC Bayern are 2020 treble winners -- incredible! FCB claimed their third trophy of the season with victory in the Champions League final on Sunday. Even though the fans couldn't be there in person, the team have always felt the backing of their supporters. Club president Herbert Hainer and chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have expressed their thanks in a personal letter:
Dear Bayern fans,
All of us can look back with pride and delight on a wonderful season, which was crowned when we completed the treble in Lisbon. Only two clubs have ever achieved this treble triumph twice -- once again FC Bayern have made history.
Our 'Mission Red', which we invited you to support at the start of the Champions League tournament in Lisbon, has now been successfully completed. Mission accomplished -- and in an absolutely phenomenal manner, in every respect. Hansi Flick's team have thrilled us all, and you, loyal fans, have demonstrated the strength of the solidarity between us, although coronavirus unfortunately means we have to keep our distance. Our club has once again emphatically proven why we regard ourselves as a family. We stand side by side, no matter where we are in the world -- and that is something which is certainly of equal value to the outstanding sporting successes of our team this season.
Many thanks to all of you. You, our members and fans, make FC Bayern what it is -- you make it complete.
We can all look to the future with confidence. FC Bayern have reached the summit of European football, and with the way these players have performed for many months now, there's plenty of cause for optimism that they'll continue to bring us joy. We'll do everything we can to convey to you the fun of football and a sense of togetherness with big objectives. We're all ready for the next mission.
