There’s an international break after Sunday’s Bundesliga clash with Hertha BSC – but there’ll be no rest for most of the Bayern first-team squad during this period. Read on to find out who’s travelling where with their national team:
Germany: Goretzka, Gnabry, Kimmich, Neuer, Süle
A quintet of Bayern stars head the Germany squad for the upcoming international fixtures in October. Coach Joachim Löw has included Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Süle in his 26-man squad for the friendly against Turkey in Cologne (7 October, 20:45*) as well as the subsequent UEFA Nations League matches in Ukraine (10 October, 20:45) and against Switzerland, again in Cologne (13 October, 20:45).
As the German Football Association announced, consideration will be given to the individual workloads of each player. For that reason, the five players from Munich are only due to be involved in the two competitive matches in the Nations League and won’t link up with the team until Tuesday evening.
France: Coman, Hernández, Pavard, Tolisso
There’s also a sizeable Bayern contingent in the reigning world champions’ squad, with France boss Didier Deschamps picking Kingsley Coman, Lucas Hernández, Benjamin Pavard and Corentin Tolisso. Les Bleus are in Saint-Denis for a friendly against Ukraine (7 October, 21:10) as well as the Nations League clash with holders Portugal (11 October, 20:45), before travelling to Zagreb to take on Croatia in the same competition (14 October, 20:45).
Poland: Lewandowski
Fresh from being crowned ‘European Footballer of the Year’, Robert Lewandowski doesn’t have too much travelling to do as Poland play three matches on home soil. After a friendly against Finland (10 October, 20:45) in Danzig, the Poles are in Nations League action against Italy in Danzig (11 October, 20:45) and against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Warsaw (14 October, 20:45).
Austria: Alaba
Austria head coach Franco Foda has named David Alaba in his squad for the friendly against Greece in Klagenfurt (7 October, 20:30) as well as the away games against Northern Ireland (11 October, 20:45) and Romania (14 October, 20:45) in the Nations League.
Netherlands U21: Zirkzee
Bayern forward Joshua Zirkzee will be in action with the Dutch under-21 side during the international break. The Jong Oranje play two European U21 Championship qualifiers at home to Gibraltar in Venlo (8 October, 20:00) and away to Cyprus (13 October, 18:00)
